Cnidaria research facility

This research facility with up to 400 tanks is built for studies on different species of Cnidaria: brackish water sea anemone(Anthozoa) and fresh water polyp(Hydrozoa)

For care and safety the facility contains water circulation pumps, water treatment facility, automatic water exchange system, temperature-/PH-controller, conductivity controller and an electrical control system for facility and pumps failures(alarm facility).

The brackish water for the facility is produced automatically by the water treatment facility in tanks of one thousand liters. It blends filtered sea water - pumped from 200m depth out of the fjord of Bergen, in a distance of a few kilometers off the coast - with reverse osmosis water. Water exchange runs once a day via timer.
