Model 60 with water distribution basin on top

In the year 1990 we have started together with Max-Planck-Institute for Developmental Biology to develop and produce this worldwide first zebrafish facility. Start of construction was in 1991 and activation of the facility in August 1992.

For this fish facility racks of stand-alone versions "Modul 30" and "Modul 60" are plugged together to several systems; placed in six so called "fish rooms". Each of it has its own water treatment system placed in the basement beneath the rooms.

After filtering and treating, water goes back by pumps into the fish rooms to water distribution basins on top of the units. By the force of gravity water flows back into the tanks.
The water exchange system has a waterflow of three and a half million liters on one day.

Today this facility hosts over 360,000 fishes in approximately 7,000 aquaria.
